Boxes get a bad rap in creative circles. So often, we are asked to think outside them. But boxes are the frame in which we can gift another a compelling experience. That box could be a game, an immersive experience, or the window through which someone creates for others.
I’ve designed award-winning best-selling games, industry-leading graphics, and told stories through mediums as varied as costumes, video, and soap. I’ve led teams to produce innovative tooling and interactions on industry-leading platforms. My most popular seminars are on the topics of Crafting Narrative Webs for Interactive Mystery Design, The Neuropsychology of Frustration, and Designing Games for Dogs.
The throughline
I design systems that let other people create and play: creator tools, UGC economies, game engines and games. The path there runs through apparel design and patternmaking at Voodoo Bunny Co., a chemistry minor, five years as a behavior specialist and team lead at Seattle Humane, and live events from puzzle hunts to Neotropolis.
I can help your team put lightning in a box.
